In short
- Your engagement covers the package you bought. Anything beyond that is quoted before we start.
- You own the accuracy of what you send us. A name that does not match your PAN is the single most common cause of rejection.
- We promise our timeline, never an authority's. Registration and examination dates are outside anyone's control.
- Our liability for any claim is capped at the professional fee you paid for that engagement.
Who we are, and what we are not
Legal Munshi is an independent professional-services platform. We are not a government department or authority, we do not act on behalf of any government body, and nothing on this site should be read as an official government notice or an approval by one.
All filings are made on official portals in your own name or in your entity's name. You remain the applicant and the proprietor of the outcome; we prepare, file and follow up on your instructions.
Accepting these terms
These terms apply to your use of this website and to every engagement you place with us. By placing an order, or by asking us to proceed with a quotation, you accept them.
If you do not accept them, do not place an order. If you are accepting on behalf of a company or partnership, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
The checkout asks you to tick a consent box before payment. That tick is recorded against your order with the date and the exact version of these terms and of the privacy notice that were on screen at the time, so that if this document is ever revised we can still show you which text governed a given order.
What the engagement covers
Each engagement is limited to the package you purchase, or the scope we confirm with you in writing before work begins. Anything beyond that — replying to a departmental notice, appearing at a hearing, or re-filing after a rejection — is additional work and carries a separate fee, which we always quote before starting.
Where your package includes a defined number of revisions or queries, we will state the number in the quotation. Once that number is used, further work is chargeable.
What we need from you
Most delayed and rejected filings trace back to one of a small number of client-side problems. These are the things we rely on you to get right, and the ones worth checking before you submit anything.
- Names and spellings that match your PAN, GSTIN and government records exactly — a mismatch between the application and the PAN is one of the most common rejection causes.
- Current documents, not older ones. A certificate that has already expired is treated as not provided.
- Complete addresses with a PIN code, and a working mobile number and email that you actually check.
- Responding to our document requests. A query we cannot answer holds the filing, and authority deadlines do not pause while you find a document.
- Completing OTP, e-authentication and e-signature steps yourself when asked. We cannot complete those on your behalf, by law.
- Telling us if your facts change mid-engagement — a new address, a change of directors, a change in turnover band.
Fees, government charges and taxes
Our professional fee is stated before you pay and does not change mid-engagement. Government fees, stamp duty, taxes and third-party charges are charged at actuals and itemised separately on your invoice, so you can always see which part of what you paid is ours and which part went to an authority.
Government fees are payable irrespective of the outcome. Where an authority has taken the money it does not return it to us, and we cannot refund it to you either — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Where a fee schedule changes after you place an order, the price we quoted to you is the price that applies to your order. We will not retrospectively increase it.
Timelines, honestly
We commit to the professional timeline stated for the service — that is the time our own work takes, measured in working days.
Any stage that depends on a government authority is outside our control and is never guaranteed: name approval, examination, queries raised by an officer, and the issue of a certificate. We publish a typical range for planning, not a promise.
We will tell you when a stage moves rather than let a deadline pass quietly. If a delay is caused by us, that is on us and is covered by the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Cancelling and refunds
You may cancel an order at any time by telling us. What happens to the fee depends on how much work has started — the Refund & Cancellation Policy sets out the position for each case, including the cases where a government fee is not refundable because it was never ours to return.
We do not charge a cancellation fee. Where a refund is due, it goes to the original payment method.
Confidentiality and your data
Everything you tell us or upload is confidential. We use it only to deliver your engagement, and we restrict staff access on a need-to-know basis. Our full data practices, retention periods and your rights as a Data Principal are set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to — by a court, or by a lawful request from a government authority. We will tell you first unless we are not permitted to.
Intellectual property
We own this website, its content, our written guides and the structure of the product you see here. You may read, print and share our guides for your own business use, but you may not republish them as your own or sell derived material.
You keep ownership of everything you upload, and of the documents and certificates we obtain on your behalf. We claim no ownership of your filings or your business records.
Liability
We are responsible for the professional quality of the work we perform, and we will put right any error that is ours at no extra cost.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim connected with an engagement is limited to the professional fee you paid for that specific engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or business opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site or our services to do any of the following.
- File anything false, misleading or fraudulent, or supply documents that are not genuine.
- Attempt to access another client's account, documents, applications or data.
- Probe, scan, overload or interfere with the site, or circumvent any limit we have put on it.
- Copy the site or its content at scale for resale or republication.
- Use our calculators or content to represent professional advice where none has been given.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or refuse an engagement where we reasonably believe the work would require us to file something false, where a client repeatedly fails to respond and the filing is at risk, or where there is suspected fraud or a security threat to the platform.
Where we suspend for a reason attributable to the client, the Refund Policy applies to the fee. Where a security or legal obligation requires it, we will explain the reason as far as we are permitted to.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gwalior.
We would much rather resolve a disagreement directly. Write to us, and we will put a person on it. If we cannot agree, you may take the matter to the relevant consumer forum, and we will provide the order record and the correspondence we relied on.
Changes to these terms
We review these terms every twelve months, or sooner if the law or our practice changes. The review date at the top of this page shows when that last happened.
Changes do not apply retroactively to an order already placed. The version of these terms in force on the date you ordered is the version recorded against that order, and it is the version that governs it.
